“You must go on adventures to find out where you truly belong. ”Sue Fitzmaurice
I have always been an adventure seeker. As a child, I grew up in a small town and didn’t have a lot of options, so I relied heavily on my imagination. I learned to make the most of the world around me. I would spend hours in the woods building forts and pretending I was on another planet. My friends and I would jump on our bikes and ride as far as the roads would take us. On our yearly trip to the nearest amusement park, I always made sure I secured my spot in the front seat of the rickety wooden coaster, even if it meant standing in line for hours.
Fortunately, my horizons broadened as an adult. I have been lucky enough to travel all over the United States, living in just about every area at one point in time or another. I’ve experienced some pretty impressive adventures, but there are still several that remain on my bucket list. One of those is white water rafting. My hubby and I used to spend quite a bit of time at the US National Whitewater Center (located in Charlotte, NC) when we were living in South Carolina. We mainly went there for trail runs, but the allure of the whitewater always captivated me. I was able to get the following shots while we were hanging out with some friends after one of our runs. The skill shown by these rafters and kayakers is quite impressive. They’re adrenalin junkies after my own heart.
