Hello and thank you for taking a moment to check out my blog. My name is DeLaynne Taylor. My passion for photography began as a small child, with old family photos in my Aunt Elinor’s cedar chest. I would excitedly beg to “read” her pictures. Guess I realized, even at that young age, that every good photograph tells a story. Eventually, I started taking my own photos, primarily using an Olympus SLR film camera. I enrolled in a photography class in high school, where I learned to develop and print in the darkroom. Although I miss those film/darkroom days, I now only shoot using a DSLR camera.
Capturing my subjects in their most natural state is important to me. I want their true essence to shine through. I prefer candid shots over posed portraits. I’m intrigued by faces, especially eyes, and love shooting close ups that reveal genuine expression. Although I enjoy different styles of portraiture, I prefer lifestyle. I’ve recently discovered that I absolutely LOVE street and journalistic style photography.
I consider myself a hobbyist and shoot purely for pleasure. I’ve toyed with the idea of eventually trying to make photography a full time career; however, after a prolonged absence from shooting, I’ve discovered that’s no longer my ultimate goal. I just want to keep developing my craft and photographing subjects that captivate me. Anyway, since my other passion is writing, a blog seemed like the perfect forum for sharing my work. Thank you for joining me on my adventures as I focus on life.
